Family-Friendly Science Activities Abound at Marymount Reston’s FREE STEM Day on April 18

Your family is invited to participate in hands-on science activities during our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Day at Marymount University’s Reston Center. Join us for this free event on Saturday, April 18 from 10am to 12pm.

Stomp Rockets

Parents and children can take part in a wide array of fun scientific projects and experiments from “Stomp Rockets” to “Vanishing Water”. The kids are hands-on scientists in our Reston Center laboratories, learning various STEM principles as they visit each activity station.

The event is hosted by Marymount University’s student chapter of the International Association for STEM Leaders (IASL). Members include current Marymount students seeking degrees in K-12 Education. These students will be on-hand to advise and supervise young scientists.

The Praxis Series® tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations. Interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and transferring to Marymount University?  Then this event is for you!

To participate, please submit a completed application packet to Hugh Miller or Rita Snyder-Furr, Transfer Counselors, Suite LR253, by 5:00, Friday, March 13, 2015.  After all required materials are submitted, students will be contacted to schedule an appointment.  Marymount will waive the $40 application fee for all participants.

A complete packet includes:

  1. Completed Transfer Admission Application (paper or online submission accepted) For online submission, please provide a copy of the application and the email confirmation.
  2. Official transcripts from NVCC and any other college or university attended.
  3. Letter of Recommendation from dean of students, college professor or employer.

Spring 2015 Dates for Miller Analogies Test (MAT) at the Reston Center

Marymount University’s Reston Center is a testing center for Pearson Education’s Miller Analogies Test (MAT).

Marymount Reston will offer the MAT on the following dates during the Spring 2015 semester:

January 14
February 11
March 11
April 8
May 13

Candidates should arrive at 9:30 a.m. to check in. The test begins at 10:00 a.m.

*FEE: $75 if registered before date of test
          $100 if registering day of test
*No refunds and funds cannot be forwarded to a future test date.
